Full Job Description Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent performs chemical and fertilizer applications on the golf course. The Applicator is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with the product label and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the Golf Course Superintendent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to: Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment. Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations, overseeing the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers. Apply herbicides, insecticides, nematicides and fertilizers in a safe manner, following label recommendations so as not to harm the environment, animals and humans. Report weed and insect problems to the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Train employees on the proper use of pesticides. Communicate with the Golf Course Superintendent on inventory levels. Clean and maintain application equipment. Job Requirements include the following, but are not limited to: Conduct the day-to-day operations of the department in a business-like, ethical and professional manner. Strive to exceed customer service expectations of members, guests and associates. Maintain good working relationship with club members, employees and all customers. Possess a working knowledge of equipment and chemicals required for golf course maintenance. Follow safety protocol at all times. Dress appropriately for the position. Establish a record of good work attendance and reliability. Demonstrate flexibility in work habits and work schedulle. Use time effectively. Comply with company policies and procedures as established in the Employee Handbook or as demonstrated as common practice. Seek to improve self in knowledge and skills.
