The Electrical Preconstruction Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the estimating department and driving project pursuit strategies. The ideal candidate is a high-performing former estimator with at least 10 years of experience who has transitioned into a people-focused leadership role, excelling at client relationship management and process improvement.

$120,000 to $150,000
Annually BOE Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the estimating team, including the Chief Estimator, staff estimators, and junior personnel, while fostering a process-driven culture. Oversee daily operations of the preconstruction department and empower the Chief Estimator as the technical authority for estimates. Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with general contractors, developers, and project owners to secure new business. Manage the full preconstruction lifecycle, including conceptual estimating, budget development, value engineering, and constructability reviews. Ensure seamless alignment and coordination between estimating, operations, and project management for successful project handoffs. Conduct performance evaluations and implement professional development plans for department staff. Participate in critical design-phase collaborations and key client meetings to ensure alignment with project goals. Leverage and manage the use of estimating platforms such as ConEst, Accubid, and Bluebeam to maintain high standards of accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered). Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical estimating. Proven leadership experience managing preconstruction teams and departmental operations. Demonstrated track record of securing profitable projects within the $200K-$10M range. Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and interpreting complex contract documents. Advanced proficiency with estimating software (ConEst, Accubid) and modern construction technologies. Experience in conceptual estimating, budgeting, and performing value engineering for design-build projects. Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings, including a background check and drug test (inclusive of THC).
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear for prolonged periods in an office environment. Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, telephones, and specialized software. Specific vision abilities required for close-up work with digital drawings and detailed specifications. Ability to occasionally visit construction sites, which may involve climbing stairs, ladders, and walking on uneven terrain. Light to moderate lifting up to 25 pounds may be required occasionally.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 annually, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
