Greenskeeper

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Under supervision, provides the care and maintenance of the golf course, landscape beds, trees and shrubs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operates mechanical equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, edgers, and chainsaws Ability to stand and walk for multiple hours throughout the day, working in all weather Plants trees, shrubs, turf grass and flowers and keeps a clean landscape bed Prunes and trims trees and shrubs Assists in construction of new greens, tees, fairways and bunkers by grading, preparing soil and planting Incorporates safe work practices in job performance Attends staff meetings Participates in other related tasks as needed In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel: •Adhere to hotel safety standards. •Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Degree (GED)

REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English. Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. May be required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Will be required to work weekends and holidays. 6 Months of landscaping experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most work tasks are performed outdoors. Position requires walking; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the resort on a timely basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch on a regular basis to maintain the golf course Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
