Equipment Operator II City of St. Petersburg - 3.8 Saint Petersburg, FL Job Details Full-time $21.70 - $30.97 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications CDL B Outdoor work experience High school diploma or GED Tanker Endorsement Full Job Description This is skilled work in the City's Stormwater, Pavement, and Traffic Operations Department, operating heavy duty motor vehicle type equipment, of moderate complexity, used in large scale construction and maintenance activities, street maintenance and grounds maintenance activities, including backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, slope mowers, street sweepers, Vactor tucks, and other related heavy equipment.

$21.70 - $30.97

09-11-2026 (11:59 PM) To Qualify Minimum Qualifications.
Applicants must:
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency. Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License (CDL) with "N" endorsement. Be experienced in the use of heavy equipment. Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Be able to work assigned shifts which may include rotation of daytime and overnight hours. Be able to perform strenuous manual labor, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into this position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster. Desirable Qualifications.
Preferred applicants:
Have at least one year of experience in the operation of backhoes, concrete mobile trucks, front-end loaders, street sweepers, slope mowers, and skid steers. Have considerable knowledge of or experience with materials, equipment, tools, methods, and techniques used in concrete and asphalt related maintenance, repair, and construction projects and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved.
