Job Description

Equipment Operator II for Public Works (Class A CDL) Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator II to work Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position operates equipment in the repair and maintenance of county roads and other infrastructure maintenance projects. HSD or GED plus four years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities for perform the work, which includes experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, driveways, drainage ways, and related facilities; ability to operate machinery and equipment including loaders, rollers, mowers, street maintenance equipment; possess and maintain valid driver's license; must possess State of Georgia Correctional Officer I Certification at minimum security level (to supervise and work with inmates) or obtain same at first opportunity class is offered after hire date. The starting wage is $21.53 per hour, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
