This position plays an important role in enhancing the experience for residents, visitors, and business owners while representing downtown in a courteous and professional manner.
Job Responsibilities:
Picks up litter in the downtown district - might involve sweeping sidewalks and light power washing of sidewalks when needed. Empties trash receptacles and places contents in appropriate collection dumpsters. Management and cleanliness of DDA compactor and recycle bin. Acknowledges business community workers. Greets and acknowledges the citizens as they enjoy downtown Woodstock. Answers questions from visitors about parking, events, business locations, etc. Visually inspects City streets, landscapes, buildings, and sidewalks for damage or potential danger to pedestrians. Performs basic landscape maintenance of common areas, such as weeding, mulching, watering, light planting and leaf blowing, basic plant care and seasonal clean-up. Maintains flower beds, planters, and landscaped public areas, with season beautifications support as needed. Maintains assigned equipment and tools, such as damaged planters, signage, lighting, and walkways; reports any needed repairs. Assists with special downtown events or clean-up efforts as needed. Follows safety and security standards. Performs related clerical as well as other manual tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in building cleaning or maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Requires a valid State of Georgia driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the downtown area and upcoming City events. Skill in operating power equipment such as blowers, pressure washers and weed eaters. Skill in providing customer service to the public. Self-motivated and able to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to drive a pickup truck and 4-wheel utility vehicle. Ability to read and communicate effectively. Ability to follow safety guidelines. Ability to carry out written and oral instructions. Physical Demands The work is medium work and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking. Work Environment Work is performed primarily alone and outside with exposure to various weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. However, work can vary depending on crowd size during an event and public needs. Requires a flexible work schedule - some early mornings, evenings, weekends, or seasonal adjustment may be required.
