Job Description
Experienced Landscape Technician Tenney Lawn & Landscape is looking for an experienced, dependable, and hard-working Landscape Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone with proven experience in landscaping, outdoor construction, equipment operation, or a related field. The ideal candidate has strong general know-how, is comfortable operating heavy equipment and power tools, and can confidently handle day-to-day job-site responsibilities with limited supervision. You should be mechanically minded, safety-conscious, able to solve problems in the field, and capable of producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Perform landscape installation, enhancement, cleanup, and outdoor construction work
- Operate and maintain commercial landscaping and construction equipment
- Safely use power tools, hand tools, and outdoor equipment
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, compactors, loaders, and other small-engine machinery
- Safely operate chainsaws, pole saws, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and other landscape tools
- Load, secure, haul, and unload equipment, materials, debris, trailers, and job-site supplies
- Tow and maneuver landscaping trailers safely
- Assist with planting, pruning, irrigation, drainage, hardscape preparation, grading, material installation, and property cleanups
- Read and follow job instructions, layouts, measurements, and basic project plans
- Work efficiently and safely while maintaining quality standards
- Identify equipment, material, and job-site issues and communicate solutions to the team lead
- Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, fueling, and basic maintenance
- Troubleshoot common equipment and job-site problems
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe truck, trailer, equipment area, and job site
- Work professionally around customers, homes, vehicles, utilities, and landscaping features
- Help train and support less-experienced team members when needed
- Take responsibility for completing assigned work correctly and on schedule
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of recent experience in landscaping, landscape construction, excavation, forestry, farming, hardscaping, or a related outdoor trade
- Proven experience operating power tools and commercial outdoor equipment
- Experience with chainsaws and other cutting equipment
- Experience towing and hauling trailers
- General mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Ability to understand and follow plans, measurements, instructions, and safety procedures
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Professional communication and a positive attitude
- Safety-conscious approach to equipment operation and job-site work
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and meet company driving requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, loaders, compactors, or similar equipment
- Experience with irrigation installation or repair
- Experience with grading, drainage, hardscape preparation, planting, pruning, or landscape construction
- Experience pulling equipment trailers or utility trailers
- CDL or additional equipment certifications
- Small-engine repair or equipment maintenance experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in changing weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain
- Ability to safely operate equipment and tools for extended periods
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday This is not an entry-level position.
Pay:
$25.00- $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0
