Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor and/or Crew Leader, the Infrastructure Technician will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled public works maintenance duties that include the use of light to heavy equipment in all weather conditions. Responds to emergencies such as auto accidents, weather emergencies including snow and downed trees as needed.
DUTIES:
Performs maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and signs. Includes stripping asphalt, patching and concrete work, landscaping, tree trimming/removal, grass and brush cutting. Also responsible for maintenance on the water and sewer systems including the pumping and lift stations, repair water main breaks, hydrants, buffalo-boxes, manholes and catch basins. Performs maintenance on streetlights and traffic signals. Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment. Operates snow and ice abatement equipment and has shifts on the snow fighting team. Must be available for emergency call-outs after hours and in all weather conditions.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Specialized training/trade school in any of the following areas: Masonry, Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance or Pipefitting. Knowledge and operating ability of light and heavy equipment, as well as snowplows. Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. Utility or construction experience is preferred.
SKILLS:
The ability to work independently without direct supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The ability to provide customer service to the residents in a helpful, polite manner. Good verbal and written communication skills.
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, crouch, step up and step down while traversing equipment and uneven payment. Must be able to drive heavy and light equipment. Must be able to push, pull and grasp with both hands/arms. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. seldom.
