Job Description
Position Summary The Grounds Crew / Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of the outdoor areas and exterior facilities. The position performs routine grounds maintenance, operates outdoor maintenance equipment, removes litter, maintains exterior signs and facilities, and completes other duties as assigned. The position requires the ability to work outdoors throughout the year and remain physically active for extended periods. Essential Responsibilities
- Mow lawns and maintain grassy areas so that outdoor grounds remain neat and presentable.
- Trim bushes, hedges, and other landscaping around company property.
- Use a weed eater/trimmer to control weeds and overgrowth around buildings, walkways, signs, and other exterior areas.
- Pick up trash and litter from grounds, parking areas, walkways, and other assigned outdoor areas.
- Maintain signs and other outside facilities, including keeping exterior areas around them clean and presentable.
- Monitor assigned grounds and identify areas that require additional cleaning, trimming, mowing, or general upkeep.
- Operate grounds-maintenance equipment safely and responsibly, including lawnmowers, weed eaters, and golf carts.
- Complete routine outdoor maintenance tasks in changing weather conditions throughout the year.
- Maintain an orderly and professional appearance of the company's exterior grounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management. Daily Work Expectations
- Report to work on time and be prepared to begin assigned grounds-maintenance duties.
- Review assigned work priorities and complete tasks in a timely and dependable manner.
- Keep tools and equipment organized and use equipment only for its intended purpose.
- Follow safe operating practices when using lawnmowers, weed eaters, golf carts, and other outdoor equipment.
- Maintain awareness of people, vehicles, buildings, walkways, and other property while operating equipment.
- Keep work areas clean while performing grounds-maintenance activities.
- Notify the appropriate supervisor or manager when equipment, signs, exterior facilities, or grounds require attention beyond routine maintenance. Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to stand and remain physically active for 8 or more hours during the workday.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with mowing, trimming, weed-eating, litter removal, and outdoor upkeep.
- Ability to work outdoors in year-round weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate assigned grounds-maintenance equipment.
- Maintain assigned grounds in a clean, orderly, and presentable condition.
- Complete assigned mowing, trimming, weed-eating, trash pickup, and exterior-maintenance tasks reliably.
- Demonstrate safe and responsible equipment operation.
- Follow work instructions and complete other duties as assigned.
- Maintain the physical ability and readiness required to perform the essential functions of the position.
