Job Summary:
The School Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and attractive outdoor areas across school campuses. This position supports a positive learning environment by ensuring school grounds are well-kept, hazard-free, and visually welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns, fields, and landscaped areas Maintain playgrounds, athletic fields, and outdoor common areas Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to ensure safety and appearance Remove litter, leaves, snow, and debris from walkways and grounds Assist with seasonal landscaping projects and campus beautification Operate and maintain grounds equipment and tools safely Inspect grounds daily for hazards and report safety concerns Support school events by setting up and breaking down outdoor areas Follow school district safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous grounds keeping or landscaping experience preferred Knowledge of lawn care, basic landscaping, and outdoor maintenance Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods Ability to work independently and as part of a team Background check required (school environment) Valid driver's license required
Work Schedule:
Full-time or part-time, based on school needs Early mornings, summers, and seasonal work required Occasional weekend or event support
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive pay based on experience School district benefits may include health insurance, paid holidays, and retirement plans
