Groundskeeper Supervisor (Working Supervisor) Position Summary Our local client is seeking an experienced Groundskeeper Supervisor to lead the grounds maintenance team for city-owned facilities, parks, and public spaces. This is a working supervisor position: the successful candidate will direct and oversee a crew while also performing hands-on groundskeeping duties alongside the team daily. The ideal candidate takes pride in well-kept public spaces, leads by example, and keeps the crew safe, productive, and on schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise, schedule, and assign daily work to a team of groundskeepers and seasonal or temporary workers. Work alongside the crew, performing mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, planting, mulching, pruning, leaf removal, and litter pickup. Maintain grounds at city facilities, including parks, athletic fields, municipal buildings, rights-of-way, and other public spaces. Inspect grounds regularly and address issues such as drainage problems, damaged turf, hazardous trees, and vandalism. Operate and oversee the safe use of commercial equipment, including zero-turn and tractor mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and utility vehicles. Make sure equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and repaired, and report major mechanical issues. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides according to label directions and state regulations. Maintain and repair irrigation systems. Enforce safety procedures, PPE use, and traffic control when working near roadways. Train new employees on proper techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices. Track work orders, crew hours, materials, and inventory, and submit reports to department management. Assist with budgeting and ordering supplies, plants, and materials. Respond to citizen concerns and coordinate with other city departments. Support storm cleanup, special events, and emergency response as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications At least 3 years of experience supervising or leading a grounds maintenance team for a city, municipal, or public facility. Proven experience as a working/hands-on supervisor. High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Working knowledge of turf management, landscaping, horticulture, and grounds maintenance practices. Ability to safely operate and perform basic maintenance on commercial grounds equipment. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Preferred Qualifications Supervising a municipal ground team. Basic computer skills for work orders, timekeeping, and reporting. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Regular outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and moving equipment. Availability for weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as needed.

Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
