Overview Alden Laurel is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Landscape Gardener to bring garden care and horticultural excellence to residential properties across Concord, Lincoln, Lexington, and the greater MetroWest area. This is a field-based role at the root of how Alden Laurel maintains its clients' gardens every day. You will work under the direction of a Crew Lead and Account Manager, carrying out the daily tasks of fine-gardening with horticultural care and attention to detail. You bring gardening experience and a passion for working with plants. You have a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow in the field. You understand that horticulture is a seasonal practice, that there is always something to do in the garden, and that every property is an ongoing extension of a client's home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out daily maintenance tasks as assigned by the Crew Lead and/or Account Manager, including pruning, weeding, deadheading, edging, mulching, and seasonal cleanups Maintain the highest standards of timeliness, cleanliness, and organization of tools, and safety practices on site Work efficiently and safely as part of a crew, following the pace and standards set by the Crew Lead and Account Manager Follow seasonal priorities and adapt daily tasks to the needs of the garden throughout the year Communicate site conditions, plant concerns, or issues to the Crew Lead and Account Managers as they arise Participate in onboarding, on-site training, and continued education to build horticultural knowledge and skill Site Operations & Logistics Assist with time and material allocation on jobs as directed by the Crew Lead and Account Manager Maintain personal accountability for your assigned tools and equipment, keeping them clean, organized, and in good working order Ensure end-of-visit site cleanliness, including debris removal and tidying of work areas Assist with loading and unloading plant material, mulch, tools, and equipment Support debris disposal and organization of the plant yard and storage areas Plant Health & Site Stewardship Apply fertilizers, soil amendments, and deer & rabbit repellents under guidance and in accordance with best horticultural and safety practices Learn to identify common pests, diseases, and plant health issues, and report findings to the Crew Lead Develop and apply working knowledge of native and ornamental plant identification Carry out daily maintenance tasks as assigned by the Crew Lead and/or Account Manager, including pruning, weeding, deadheading, edging, mulching, and seasonal cleanups Maintain the highest standards of timeliness, cleanliness, and organization of tools, and safety practices on site Work efficiently and safely as part of a crew, following the pace and standards set by the Crew Lead and Account Manager Follow seasonal priorities and adapt daily tasks to the needs of the garden throughout the year Communicate site conditions, plant concerns, or issues to the Crew Lead and Account Managers as they arise Participate in onboarding, on-site training, and continued education to build horticultural knowledge and skill

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Genuine interest and some experience in gardening and landscape maintenance Willingness to learn garden maintenance practices, plant identification, and horticultural techniques on residential properties Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods Work 40+ hours per week, typically Monday - Friday from 7:30am -4pm Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle for commuting to and from work Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team Preferred 2+ season of professional experience in residential gardens or landscape maintenance Basic working knowledge of ornamental and native tree, shrub, and perennial plant identification Familiarity with hand tools and basic power equipment (pruners, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, blowers) Interest in pursuing further horticultural education or certification (e.g., Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist or similar)

Pay:

$25.00 - $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
