Job Description

Position Title:
Grounds Maintenance Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
Department:
Mountain Operations Reports To:
Grounds Manager and/or
Director of Mountain Operations Status:
Full-time Year-Round, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Working Hours:
May be required to work day, night or evening hours and overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and holidays as required. Hours to be worked will be determined by the job requirements, training and experience of employees.
Wage Range:
$17.00 per hour

Position Summary:
Landscapes and maintains grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Performs a variety of tasks such as laying sod, mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking and sprinkler installation. Provides superlative service to all resort guests and co-workers in performance of all tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Wisp Resort is a four-season ski, golf and recreational destination resort. Because of the nature of the resort business, employees may be asked to perform other duties outside of the job description. Also, hours of operation are 24/7 including weekends and holidays.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Employee Initials _____ Manager Initials _____ Follows detailed worksheet for routine grounds keeping tasks. Waters all plants, flowers and grass on property by hand, sprinkler or other methods as needed. Mows and trims all lawn areas. Pulls weeds by hand or uses weed trimmer as appropriate. Planting, fertilizing and other gardening jobs as needed. Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all outside areas excluding the golf course and performing routine garbage maintenance. Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly. Keeps equipment storage room neat, clean and organized. Completes inventory of supplies and informs Grounds Manager when additional supplies are needed. Keeps the entire property free of litter, cigarette butts and other trash. Shall perform routine rounds of the grounds in the morning and fulfilling any guests' needs. Wears appropriate safety equipment, and attends periodic safety and training meetings to increase safety awareness and abilities. Takes pride in area cleanliness by picking up trash, and reports unsightly conditions. Represents oneself on and off site in a way that is favorable to Wisp Resort. Exhibits ability to communicate well with managers and other personnel, and maintains a friendly congenial and helpful attitude while effectively serving our guests.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Level 1 - NE01 Employee Initials _____ Manager Initials _____ Assists with operation of trimmers, backpack blower and push mowers. Assists with labor required in sweeping, brush pick up, digging and shoveling. Assists with regular trash pick-up.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Level 2 - NE02 Employee Initials _____ Manager Initials _____ All of the duties of a Level 1 Groundskeeper. Mow with riding mower and zero turn mower. Ability and knowledge to seed, lime and fertilize project areas. Work around chainsaws on brush projects. Knowledge how to mix fuel properly for various pieces of equipment. Assist with basic maintenance on mowing equipment. Operate QUV side by side for transportation around base area. Have valid driver's license and company approval to drive vehicles.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Level 3 - NE03 Employee Initials _____ Manager Initials _____ All of the duties of a Level 1 & Level 2 Groundskeeper. Operate larger equipment including JD 1600 and Ventrac mowers on the lower mountain slopes. Have basic knowledge and ability to perform maintenance on mowers and equipment. Ability and knowledge to operate chainsaws. Operate QUV side by side on mountain slopes. Skill and knowledge to repair minor drainage issues around Resort.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Level 4 - NE04 Employee Initials _____ Manager Initials _____ All of the duties of a Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Groundskeeper. Operate larger equipment (1600 and Ventrac mowers) on the upper mountain and steeper terrain. Operate skid steer, loader, backhoe and other equipment. Lead lower level grounds workers in projects and assist in their instruction and training. Assume responsibilities of Supervisor in his/her absence. Acquire DOT medical card to operate dump truck. Have ability to perform maintenance and diagnose issues on mowers and equipment. Ability to operate chainsaws in the felling of trees. Operate QUV side by side on mountain slopes. Skill and knowledge to repair minor drainage issues around Resort. Ability to operate bucket truck and bucket cat to trim trees and other projects. Be a convergent thinker.

Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent Specialized in house training - successful completion of safety and training for operation of tools and equipment. Must be at least (18) years of age.

Extensive long periods of working in a standing position up to 8-10 hours. Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
Exposure to:
Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting, ultra-violet radiation from the sun, fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting. Manual dexterity, auditory and visual demands.
