Full Job Description Groundskeeper Department:
Plant & Facilities Operations Location :
Columbia, MO Type:
Staff, Full-time Salary range starts at: $16.50 per hour Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Job Summary:
To assist the Grounds supervisor in implementation and maintenance of grounds, assist with snow and ice removal, extermination of pests and the maintenance and upkeep of Columbia College Fleet vehicles.
Essential Functions:
Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College's vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of the Plant & Facilities Department. Planting of shrubs, trees, flowers and other plants. Removal of dead trees and limbs. Mowing and trimming grass using weed-eaters and riding and push-type mowers. Raking leaves. Examines grounds to recommend new projects. Assist with snow and ice removal. Dispose of trash and debris from parking lots and campus lawns. Experience in fleet vehicle maintenance including; cleaning and light mechanical duties. Experience in grounds maintenance. Able to operate all types of landscape equipment. Practice superior customer service. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Valid Missouri Class E Chauffer's driver's license. Prior grounds experience. Experience in operating of small engines. Knowledge in landscaping and grounds keeping Ability to handle tools and machinery used to perform duties.
Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language. Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources. Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems. Proficiency in using web-based technologies, including database systems. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision. Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
Ability to satisfy, within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal, state and local laws, a criminal background check as a condition of employment. Special Requirements (if any): Valid Missouri driver's license or ability to attain one. Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College. Ability to lift and remove minimum 50 pounds.
