Job Description

This is a non-exempt position that reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. This position performs maintenance for all aspects of Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Sechrest 18 and Watson 9 golf courses. The main responsibilities include facility and grounds maintenance, cleaning duties, and trash removal, assuring a clean and safe environment. Maintenance Activities Maintains the overall golf course grounds as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent and other full-time staff. Assists in the care and maintenance of the ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the Pro Shop grounds, Events Lawn and selected areas of the golf course. Transplants, prunes, and maintains health of trees and shrubs. Prepares annual beds in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement. Monitors the appearance, playability, and aesthetic nature of the course assuring adherence to optimal maintenance standards. Installs and maintains landscaping. Mows grass, rakes trimmings, prunes and trims trees and shrubs. Uses a weed-eater around structures. Assist in cleaning of equipment and scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment. Inspects assigned grounds, facilities, and other areas for needed maintenance, repairs, or cleaning. Collects and removes trash and debris from public areas. Rakes golf course sand traps and waters greens. Maintains safe conditions on the walking trails, sidewalks, and parking surfaces. Maintains an understanding of the game and rules of golf. Works as part of a team.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Assists with set-up, clean up, and breakdown of special events held on Events lawn if needed. Performs other related duties as required. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License Class
B-CDL. REQUIRED
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or G.E.D.; one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Items that this position has to lift include 90 pound bags of cement, 50 pound bag of fertilizer, 60 pound shingle bundles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in laying cement, shoveling of wood chips, rock, and sand, push mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, and many types of vehicles and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, direct sunlight. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, dampness, dust, pollen, insect stings, and animals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Driving required between work sites in the park and city offices. This position may be on call during inclement weather. Duties are generally performed during normal weekday hours, with some weekend and holiday work required as needed. Overtime and call out required as needed.
