Job Description
PLEASE VISIT BILL ROBERTS GOLF COURSE PRO SHOP FOR AN APPLICATION. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT
14 YEARS
DEFINITION
Performs specialized and highly detailed tasks associated with the maintenance of Bill Roberts Golf Course.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under direct supervision of the golf course superintendent, assistant golf course superintendent and golf course mechanic.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs daily setup of the golf course such as but not limited to placement of tee markers, pin locations and trash removal. Maintains greens, tees, fairways, rough turf grass areas, bunkers and other golf course features (i.e. mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, grooming, hand watering, etc.) Performs landscaping tasks to include but not limited to planting and or removal of trees, shrubs and turf grass; grading, raking, mulching and pruning. Safe operation of vehicles, highly specialized turf equipment and moderately sized construction equipment. Safe operation of hand and power tools. Assists in maintaining the irrigation systems. This includes digging and repair of the underground sprinklers, pipe and wire. Minor painting of buildings, structures, fixtures, and equipment. Maintains and assists in the installation of other golf course features.

SAFETY RELATED DUTIES
Abide by the City of Helena and department/division work practices established for specific job assignments and occupations. Report occupational injuries, illnesses and near misses immediately to their supervisor. Follow supervisor instructions for obtaining first aid and/or medical attention. Participate in accident investigations as requested by the supervisor. Participate fully in safety training. Suggest improvements in safety training requirements or programs to the supervisor or the safety committee. Recognize unsafe work conditions and unsafe practices, report them to the supervisor.
JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Safe operational use of equipment and tools associated with golf course maintenance. Basic knowledge of the game of golf and golf course maintenance.
Skill to:
Safely operate highly specialized golf course maintenance equipment and tools. Complete tasks to the high standards of Bill Roberts Golf Course Ability to: Perform moderate to heavy manual labor involving the exercise of good judgment and common sense. Learn on the job Take direction from supervisors and work harmoniously with others Multi-task and work independently Understand and execute detailed, complex directions Communicate and coordinate work with other golf course employees Appropriate decision making that involves: job safety, task efficiencies and interactions with the golfing public Work week-ends, holidays and early morning start times Physical Demands/ Work Environment Ability to sit, stand, walk, twist, and lift 50 lbs.; Work outdoors; exposure to noise, cold, heat, sun, rain and other inclement weather; work around mechanical and electrical systems, fertility and pesticide programs.
Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying.
Experience:
Previous experience in turf and landscape maintenance desired; ability to work well with people, some organizational skills, ability to follow instructions.
