Full-Time — Field Leadership Role Purpose The Gardening Lead is the field expert and daily leader responsible for delivering high-quality horticultural care to Crown Town's gardening clients. This role ensures proper plant maintenance, fine pruning, garden bed health, perennials care, and seasonal updates — all performed safely, consistently, and professionally. Our work connects landscape design, installation, maintenance, composting, and farming into one system. The organic waste we collect is turned into nutrient-rich compost that feeds both the landscapes we build and our farm, which grows local produce, via our sister companies Crown Town Compost and Crown Town Farm. Daily Gardening Leadership Lead gardening crews through daily tasks, ensuring clarity and efficiency Plan daily workflow in alignment with the Maintenance PM's weekly schedule Communicate jobsite expectations and priorities to crew members Coach technicians on proper techniques and plant-specific care B. Horticultural Maintenance & Plant Care Fine hand pruning (shrubs, perennials, ornamental plants) Deadheading, thinning, shaping, and rejuvenation pruning Bed maintenance (weeding, edging, fluffing, soil amendments) Perennial and ornamental grass trimming based on seasonal timing Monitoring plant health, diagnosing issues (stress, disease, pests) Soil conditioning and fertility basics C. Seasonal Garden Services Implement seasonal rotations and garden refresh plans Lead seasonal perennial cutbacks and ornamental grass maintenance Support seasonal color installations as needed Coordinate with the Design Support Specialist on plant lists and quantities D. Morning Launch & Material Readiness Verify trucks are loaded with gardening tools, specialty pruners, soil amendments, fertilizers, and PPE Communicate material or plant needs in advance to Ops Mgr or Maintenance PM Ensure crew leaves the warehouse on time and fully prepared E. Communication & Daily Reporting Provide updates to the Maintenance PM on garden conditions, plant health issues, material shortages, and scheduling impacts Capture daily notes, photos, and videos according to established processes F. Quality Control Ensure garden appearance consistently meets or exceeds Crown Town standards Inspect work throughout the day and correct issues in real time Train crew members on garden detail work and plant-specific techniques Perform final walk-through on properties before departure G. Customer Interaction Greet clients professionally when onsite Redirect all scope, pricing, or change-request discussions to CSM or Maintenance PM What Success Looks Like Properties look consistently beautiful, intentional, and well-maintained Plant health improves and call-backs decrease due to proactive care Gardening routes finish on time and within planned labor ranges Garden Technicians become more skilled under your coaching Seasonal color and garden transitions occur smoothly Daily videos, notes, and communication are consistent and reliable
