Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Aide to support our facility maintenance department. The ideal candidate will a strong understanding of facility systems, efficient problem-solving skills, preventive maintenance systems, landscaping and groundskeeping, and the ability to perform maintenance tasks efficiently. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the safety, appearance, and functionality of our community while gaining valuable experience in natural resource management and grounds maintenance in a healthcare setting. Duties Perform landscape maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, toilet replacement, air condition maintenance, nursing equipment management, therapy equipment management, mowing, trimming, planting, and weed control to ensure the grounds are attractive and well-kept. Operate grounds maintenance equipment such as hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, and other landscaping machinery safely and effectively. Assist with ecological restoration projects, invasive plant management, and tree care activities including pruning and climbing as needed. Conduct routine maintenance work on outdoor facilities, pathways, fencing, and irrigation systems to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Assist with pesticide management and application following safety protocols to control pests and invasive species responsibly. Drive company vehicles in rural or outdoor settings while adhering to safety procedures; perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required for grounds upkeep. Skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for data collection and maintenance records. Developing and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules for all systems in a skilled nursing facility including but not limited to air conditions, water heaters, fountains, fire extinguishers, exit alarms, and resident equipment. Experience in landscape maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping with knowledge of horticulture principles. Supervising experience or ability to work under supervision while supporting team efforts. Familiarity with GIS technology, GPS navigation, and natural resource management practices. Knowledge of tree care techniques including trimming, and health assessment. Construction experience related to outdoor projects or facility repairs is advantageous. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, and other landscaping equipment safely. Understanding of pesticide application procedures. Valid driver's license with experience driving in rural areas; ability to perform heavy lifting safely. Knowledge of safety protocols for outdoor work environments; adherence to OSHA standards is essential.
