Position Summary:
Assist crews in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground traffic signal/roadway lighting systems. This entry-level position supports crew members by preparing job sites, handling tools and materials, and ensuring worksite safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up and maintaining safe work zones (e.g., flagging traffic, placing signs and cones). Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and materials. Pull ropes and guide electrical cables during installation. Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision. Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas. Assist with framing poles, installing hardware, and preparing underground conduit. Dig holes and trenches using manual or powered tools. Handle the disposal of old equipment and debris from job sites. Observe and follow safety procedures and company regulations. Learn and apply basic knowledge of electrical systems and utility operations. Report equipment issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
Requirements:
Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance. Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public. Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds. Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.
