Job Description
Grow with Hambleton Gardens Our Retail Associates are at the forefront of the Hambleton Gardens experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, loves being around plants, and takes pride in creating a welcoming, well-maintained space—while also helping lead and support the team. This is a hands-on team lead position that works directly under and closely with the General Manager. While most days are spent working alongside the team in daily operations, this role also serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) when the General Manager is off or out of the garden center. Position Details Full-time, seasonal leadership position (approximately 40 hours/week) Season runs March through October Acts as Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled Some weekend availability required Must be 18 years or older to apply Leadership Responsibilities Support and guide daily operations in the absence of the General Manager Lead by example while working alongside the team Help ensure excellent customer service, plant quality, and overall organization Assist with problem-solving, customer concerns, and team support as needed Plant Care & Garden Center Maintenance Care for live plants through watering, trimming, fertilizing, and proper placement Maintain plant quality, organization, and cleanliness throughout the garden center Unload shipments of new plant material Ensure products are accurately priced and retail-ready Customer Service Greet customers and assist with plant and product selection Help load plants and landscape materials into customer vehicles Create a positive, friendly, and easy-to-navigate shopping experience Operate our Point of Sale system accurately, including cash handling Take special orders and schedule delivery orders Delivery This position will fully oversee our Delivery Service Accurately load and unload delivery trucks with customer orders Drive delivery vehicles and complete scheduled delivery routes when assigned Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and not afraid to get a bit dirty If you enjoy working with plants, helping customers, and being part of a hardworking, upbeat team—we'd love to hear from you.
