Arborist Ground Worker / Groundsman Willy the Climber Omaha, NE Job Details Part-time $30 - $35 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Tree care Outdoor work experience Cutting Chainsaw Driver's License Landscaping Full Job Description Willy the Climber is looking for an experienced Arborist Ground Worker / Groundsman to join our production crew in the Omaha area. We intentionally operate around a three-day production schedule. Our goal is to provide skilled tree workers with a strong hourly wage and a healthier work/life balance without sacrificing the quality or pace of our work. Production days are productive and physically demanding, and occasional long days happen, but routinely burning out our employees is not how we intend to grow the company. Schedule Our standard production days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, typically beginning around 8:00 AM, for approximately 24 hours per week. Additional hours may become available. Tree work is weather-dependent. If weather prevents a scheduled production day, work will typically move to the following day. Employees must be able to accommodate these weather-related schedule changes. Compensation & Growth Starting pay begins at $30/hour, based on experience , with a guaranteed raise after successful completion of the first 30 days . Highly qualified candidates may be eligible for a higher starting rate. We're looking for someone who can grow with the company. A strong ground worker will have opportunities to take on more responsibility, hours, and compensation, with a potential path into climbing and/or crew leadership. Responsibilities Run ropes and assist climbers during pruning and removal operations Safely operate chainsaws and perform ground cutting Handle brush, logs, and debris Use basic arborist knots Maintain awareness of rigging systems, drop zones, and jobsite hazards Assist with jobsite setup, organization, and cleanup Learn to operate machinery and additional equipment as needed Care for company and rental equipment Communicate effectively and take direction from crew leadership Required Qualifications At least 1 year of professional tree-care/arboriculture experience Experience running ropes for a climber Competent and safe chainsaw operation Knowledge of basic arborist knots Valid driver's license Reliable transportation to and from jobsites Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 75 lbs. Comfortable performing physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather Prepared for occasional longer production days Reliable attendance Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a small crew Must report to work fit for duty and remain unimpaired while performing safety-sensitive work Relevant landscaping, construction, or similar outdoor work experience may be considered for candidates who demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to work safely around professional tree operations. Preferred Qualifications Climbing experience Additional rigging experience Chipper experience Mini skid or other machinery experience Broader arboriculture knowledge Who We're Looking For Experience matters, but character matters just as much.
