POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated Farm Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and appearance of our 50-acre cattle and horse farm. This position is focused entirely on grounds and facility maintenance — no animal care duties are required or expected. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, can manage their time independently, and is comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Grounds Maintenance Operate riding and push mowers to maintain lawns, pasture perimeters, and common areas across the property Perform weed whacking / string trimming along fence lines, buildings, walkways, and other hard-to-reach areas Manage vegetation growth including overgrown brush, invasive plants, and weed control throughout the property Maintain clean and orderly appearance of all outdoor areas including driveways, entrances, and gathering spaces Perform seasonal cleanup tasks such as leaf removal, debris clearing, and post-storm cleanup Facility and Structural Maintenance Perform minor repairs to farm buildings including barns, sheds, storage structures, and outbuildings Inspect and repair fencing across the property, including wood, wire, and post repairs as needed Identify and report maintenance issues that require professional or specialized repair Assist with general upkeep of structures to ensure safe and functional condition year-round General Operations Perform general cleanup and waste disposal throughout the property as needed Maintain, clean, and perform basic upkeep on grounds equipment and hand tools Communicate proactively with the farm owner or property manager regarding project status and supply needs Adapt to a variety of tasks and changing priorities depending on season and property needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience operating riding mowers, tractors, and other grounds equipment Basic carpentry and fencing skills for minor structural repairs Mechanical aptitude — experience diagnosing and repairing small engines, farm equipment, or vehicles is a plus but not required Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively across a large property Physical ability to perform outdoor labor including lifting, bending, and working in varying weather conditions Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of property appearance

PLEASE NOTE

This position does not involve any animal care, feeding, handling, or husbandry responsibilities. While you will be working on an active cattle and horse farm, all animal-related duties are handled by separate farm staff.
