Duties Maintain athletic fields, golf courses, or landscaped areas through mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, and overseeding to ensure healthy turf growth. Operate irrigation systems and perform manual adjustments to keep landscapes properly watered and healthy. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and power tools including chainsaws and trimmers for landscape maintenance tasks. Conduct routine equipment inspections, perform preventive maintenance on lawn care and landscaping machinery, and ensure safe operation of all groundskeeping equipment. Apply pesticides or herbicides following safety protocols to control pests and weeds effectively while adhering to environmental regulations. Perform heavy lifting and manual handling of materials like soil, mulch, or landscaping stones safely using proper techniques. Operate company vehicles for transporting equipment or materials across different sites while maintaining safety standards. Assist in landscape design projects or renovations by planting trees, shrubs, flowers, or installing new turf areas. Ensure compliance with power tool safety procedures during all grounds maintenance activities to prevent accidents. Experience Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, or athletic field groundskeeping is preferred. Familiarity with irrigation systems installation and troubleshooting is highly desirable. Knowledge of horticulture principles related to lawn care, gardening, and landscaping practices. Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, aerators, and power tools safely and efficiently. Experience managing pesticide applications in accordance with safety regulations is a plus. Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks regularly. Prior work involving golf course groundskeeping or sports field maintenance will be considered an asset.
