Estate Gardener/ Horticulture Assistant

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Estate Gardener/Horticulture Assistant to join our team and help maintain the beauty and health of our expansive estate grounds. Responsibilities Maintain and enhance garden beds, lawns, shrubbery, and trees through pruning, trimming, planting, and fertilizing. Operate hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, and hoes to carry out routine gardening tasks efficiently. Use power tools including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws safely and effectively. Implement irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules for diverse plantings while troubleshooting issues as they arise. Support greenhouse operations by planting seedlings, monitoring plant health, and managing climate controls for optimal growth. Conduct landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, edging, weed control, and soil preparation to keep grounds pristine. Assist with farming or agricultural tasks related to estate crops or vegetable gardens as needed. Skills Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping or related fields with a strong understanding of plant care principles. Knowledge of irrigation systems and troubleshooting common issues to ensure efficient water use. Experience working in greenhouses or controlled environment agriculture is highly desirable. Familiarity with lawn care techniques including mowing, aeration, fertilization, and pest management. Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely while maintaining high standards of quality work. Strong understanding of landscape maintenance practices combined with a passion for sustainable land management.
