As Westchester County's largest cultural organization, we welcome over 300,000 visitors annually through our school programs, tours of five National Historic Landmarks, and beloved seasonal events including The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze and Horseman's Hollow. We're seeking passionate individuals who share our commitment to preserving history and creating memorable experiences. The Opportunity Join our Buildings, Grounds & Security Department as a Part-Time Groundskeeper and play a vital role in maintaining the natural beauty of our historic properties. Reporting to the Landscape Manager, you'll collaborate with our dedicated team to care for the landscapes across our Westchester County sites and headquarters. This is a hands-on position perfect for someone who takes pride in outdoor work and wants to contribute to preserving these cherished historic environments.Note:
This position requires select evenings, weekends, and holiday hours during our busy fall season (September-November). Primary Responsibilities Care for Living Collection- Maintain trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plantings in a horticulturally and ecologically responsible manner Site Appearance
- Ensure sites remain tidy through trash removal, litter collection, and debris clean-up Lawn Maintenance
- Perform mowing, line trimming, edging, and seasonal applications of lawn care products Snow Removal
- Execute snow plowing, snow blowing, hand shoveling, and ice melt application during winter months Shop and Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain shop organization, hand tools, and equipment; perform basic repairs as needed Power Equipment Care
- Ensure proper care for equipment and machinery through routine maintenance, including cleaning and storage after each use Safety
- Demonstrate correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain situational awareness when using power tools or operating machinery (PPE provided) Special Events Support
- Assist with special event setup, breakdown, and staffing during peak season Required Qualifications Valid Driver's License Ability to lift at least 50 lbs regularly Demonstrated experience in landscape maintenance Professional, punctual, and reliable work ethic Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Willingness to work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.
