Job Description
Assumes responsibility for the care and upkeep of all school district lawns and fields.
Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and minor repair of grounds equipment including mowers, snow blowers, tractors, lawn implements, etc. Maintains records on each piece of equipment for parts replacement, vendor supplies, and cost factors.
Assumes responsibility for the removal of snow from driveways, parking lots, and other designated areas. Snow removal must be executed at the initiative of the groundskeeper to ensure timely access to school buildings, offices, and grounds.
Mark ball fields at the direction of the Athletic Director, Sr. Maintenance Mechanic, or Business Administrator.
Performs a variety of semi-skilled mechanical, construction, and repair work tasks associated with grounds, operations, maintenance, and outside building upkeep.
Performs other related tasks as may be assigned by the Sr. Maintenance Mechanic and/or Business Administrator.

Job Qualifications
Completion of a four-year high school program or equivalent.
Familiarity with tools, grounds equipment, and maintenance machinery.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance activities, including terminology and safety precautions.
Ability to follow oral and written instruction and to communicate with other district employees.
Possess good hand-eye coordination and physical condition, mechanical aptitude, and manual dexterity.
Possess the qualities of dependability, integrity and good judgment.
Listed telephone number at home with flexibility in shift assignment and hold a valid NY State driver's license.
One (1) year of experience in one or more of the maintenance and construction trades; or two (2) years' experience in grounds maintenance activities; or two (2) years of any equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to perform the work.
Preferred candidate will hold or be eligible for a NY State Class B CDL with P and S endorsements to substitute as a bus driver when necessary.
Perform a variety of related tasks as may be assigned by the administration.
