Job Description
Groundsman - Tree Work / Arboriculture Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Groundman to join our tree care crew. The Groundman plays a key support role to climbers and equipment operators, assisting with all ground-level operations during tree pruning, removals, and site clean-up. This position requires strong communication skills, physical stamina, and a commitment to safe work practices. Key Responsibilities Assist climbers and bucket operators by managing ropes, rigging, and tools Operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, blowers, and rigging devices Safely load, chip, and dispose of brush, limbs, and logs Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free worksite Perform basic tree care tasks under supervision, including cutting, dragging brush, and stump area cleanup Inspect and maintain equipment daily to ensure safe operation Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and industry best practices Communicate effectively with the crew to support efficient job flow Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients on site Qualifications Experience in tree work or landscaping preferred (but willing to train the right candidate) Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in demanding outdoor conditions Valid driver's license (CDL a plus) Basic understanding of chainsaw operation and job-site safety Strong work ethic, punctuality, and teamwork skills Preferred Skills (Not Required) Knowledge of arborist knots and rope handling Rigging experience Mechanical aptitude for simple equipment maintenance First Aid/CPR or tree-industry safety certifications What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Opportunities for training and advancement (climbing, equipment operation, certifications) A supportive crew environment with a strong focus on safety Year-round or seasonal work depending on company needs
