Hourly rate is $19.75. This position is also a member of the Service Employees International Union Local 1 Responsibilities Cutting of grass, edging and trimming along walks, shrub beds and trees. Weeding of landscape beds and around trees as needed. Pruning of trees and shrubs to improve growth or to remove damaged or dead branches and twigs. Also removal of sucker growth at bottom of trees. Cleaning the Grounds area and removal of litter daily. Leaf cleanup as needed. Snow removal from walks and driveways. Apply salt and calcium to areas as needed to prevent ice hazard conditions. Planting of grass, trees, shrubs and bulbs. Assists with the operation of the irrigation system. Repairing of fences, gates, sandstone walks, walls and irrigation lines. Cleaning of drainage grates, ditches and culverts. Sweeping of dirt and debris from walks, driveways, stairwells and Parking Garage. Emptying of trash containers on Museum Grounds daily. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and makes minor repairs as needed. Rotate, replenish, and water plants inside of the museum in Public areas. Perform special projects as assigned by Supervisor of Grounds. May be required to perform miscellaneous pick-up and deliveries for the Museum when needed. Assist in the recycling program. Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one or two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior landscaping and maintenance experience required. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license. Ability to drive vehicles, including pickup trucks. Must be able to use various hand tools and operate various landscaping equipment, such as, but not limited to tractors with implements, mowers, trimmers, blowers, lawn edgers, chain saws, tow motors and Bobcat skid steers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to cold, wet and / or hot, humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
