Job Description

The position of AIT is designed for someone who is professionally motivated to become a golf course superintendent. This position will expose the individual to all aspects of turf grass maintenance and will slowly incorporate responsibility, eventually preparing the individual for the Assistant Superintendent position. The Assistant- In- Training (AIT), under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or the Assistant Golf Course Superintendents perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. The assistant-in-training participates in a diverse range of activities including daily course preparation, mowing, equipment operation, water management, chemical applications, construction projects, etc. Heritage Club us located in Mason, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. The club has made massive investments into the course maintenance and funded several course improvements including: Recently completing several master plan projects that included a green expansion and changes in bunkering. A complete rebuild of all bunkers on the golf course with the exception of 2 holes that will be completed in the future. An entire fleet of Toro equipment, replacing 95% of the equipment that maintains the golf course. Purchased several larger utility vehicles and tools to continue to improve the golf course and grounds with in-house projects. Currently in the design stages of a full property irrigation system replacement and will be looking to replace the system in 2027.
Educational Requirements:
Obtained or actively pursuing a degree or certificate in turf grass management, or the motivation to acquire one.
Experience Requirements:
At least one year of golf course maintenance experience.
