The City of Centerville is accepting applications for part-time year-round Benham's Grove Event Setup. This position provides essential support to Benham's Grove, assisting in the preservation and maintenance of this unique and peaceful environment. For over 25 years, Benham's Grove has served as the backdrop for special occasions of all kinds—wedding receptions, holiday parties, art shows, and more. This would not be possible without dedicated staff members who ensure that details are attended to and that our facilities and grounds are in superb condition. This position is part time with a flexible schedule of 10-20 hours a week.

Job Responsibilities:

Assists with the daily set-up and tear-down of events at the facility. Assist with tending all flowerpots and beds, including watering, weeding, and trimming. Perform routine building maintenance, including painting, and minor repairs. Performs routine landscaping, including mowing, planting, and edging. Perform seasonal work such as snow removal, leaf pick-up, and watering lawns and plants. Operate a variety of light equipment, including vacuum cleaners and blowers. Pick up trash and inspect grounds, as necessary. Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or the equivalent, supplemented by some experience in general building maintenance; or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid Ohio Driver's License.

Ability to:

Effectively communicate with Event Host, Facility Attendant, and guests. Work independently with minor supervision. Work alone on most tasks. Perform heavy manual labor. Travel to and gain access to the work site. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and walk for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to have the requisite strength, mobility, and dexterity to operate equipment or access the work site. Work is performed inside and outside with extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. While performing work frequent bending, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, kneeling, and pushing and pulling may be required. Must be able to use appropriate senses such as vision, hearing, touch, and smell to perform necessary tasks. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and adverse weather conditions which can include hot, cold, icy wet, humid, and windy weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to loud. Personal protective equipment is required for all conditions and situations.
