Job Title:
PT Groundskeeper Location:
Allentown (Operated by County of Lehigh) This is a hands-on position involving a variety of grounds maintenance, landscaping, outdoor facility maintenance, and seasonal duties. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well independently, and is comfortable operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate walk-behind, riding, and other power mowers to maintain lawns and open areas. Trim grass around buildings, trees, fences, sidewalks, and other structures. Trim, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaping. Plant, water, fertilize, cultivate, and maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs, and trees. Apply fertilizers, weed control products, pesticides, and other treatments in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements. Operate, clean, inspect, and perform routine preventative maintenance on lawn and grounds equipment. Perform basic equipment maintenance, including changing oil, lubricating equipment, making minor adjustments, and properly storing tools and equipment. Maintain grounds, sidewalks, pathways, outdoor common areas, to ensure they remain clean, safe, and presentable. Remove leaves, litter, branches, brush, and other debris. Perform basic repairs and maintenance to outdoor structures, recreational equipment, and related facilities. Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal and addressing weather-related hazards. Identify and report safety hazards, equipment issues, landscaping concerns, or maintenance needs. Follow established safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE). Work cooperatively with other members of the maintenance and facilities team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a clean driving record required. Six to twelve months of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, facilities maintenance, or a related field preferred. Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance methods, materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to safely operate lawn and grounds maintenance equipment. Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and learn basic repairs. Ability to read and follow directions, safety requirements, and product labels for fertilizers, pesticides, chemicals, and equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with grounds maintenance, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and operating equipment.
