Seasonal Gardener

Summary of Position Seasonal gardeners will learn from the Director of Sustainability and the Carrden Manual, compiled by previous student gardeners. Seasonal gardeners will gain experience in managing vegetable plots, a perennial food forest, native wildlife landscaping, fruit trees, and flower beds, as well as learn how to implement crop rotations, cover crops, and garden planning principles. Key Responsibilities Daily and seasonal activities include starting seeds and watering seedlings in the greenhouse, transplanting, weeding, adding compost and mulch to beds and paths Harvesting and preserving produce Developing value-added products and programming using Carrden harvests. Experience and Qualifications The ideal candidates should be curious, motivated, team-oriented, and willing to work physically outdoors in varying weather conditions. While we welcome gardening experience, none is required. Summer student gardener positions are up to 35 hours per week for no more than 3 months. Compensation Expected starting salary : $14.00/hr
