Job Description

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair in the Parks and Recreation Department. Work involves maintaining landscaping and amenities at and surrounding public grounds.
Education:
High school diploma or
GED Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years of experience in golf course or landscape maintenance year of related experience
Certifications:

Note:
The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City. Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including tractors, mowers, landscaping equipment, etc. Must be able to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to climb, reach, crawl, bend, stoop, etc. in the performance of job duties. Physical demand requirements are those for Medium Work to Heavy Work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs general parks maintenance. Waters plants. Cleans crew quarters. Fuels equipment. Weeds plant beds. Fertilizes plant material. Collects trash. Plants plant material. Maintains/repairs the irrigation systems. Performs athletic field maintenance. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as maintenance route lists, daily hour logs, and vehicle preventative maintenance checklist. Prepares and/or processes records and report as needed. Refers to equipment operator's manuals, MSDS sheets, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc. Operates a variety of light machinery/equipment such as tractor, mower, weed eater/edger, loader/backhoe, vehicles, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as hand tools such as saws, drills, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as fertilizer, pesticides, paint, athletic field prep work materials, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Public Grounds Superintendent, Crew Leaders, Supervisors, department head, Parks and Recreation Department staff, and the general public.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related work as required. All employees of the municipality shall learn the emergency operations procedures for their respective department and position and execute these duties fully during times of emergency. This may or may not include assignment to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
