Job Description

Description of Job Duty:
Mows and trims with various mowers and power tools. Assist in planting and maintaining trees, plants, flower beds, shrubbery and other landscaping elements on campus. Utilizes tractors, front end loaders, utility vehicles and other commercial equipment to move dirt, sand, landscape rock and mulch for campus landscaping needs. Maintains cleanliness of campus including picking up trash and maintaining campus esthetics. Assist with all forms of turf construction activities including laying sod, fertilization, chemical applications, overseeding. Assist in the removal of Snow and Ice including events that may arise after normal working hours and campus closures. Tennessee Tech is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of related experience including six months of experience with landscape maintenance and herbicides.
Preferred Qualifications:
Landscape construction experience including operation of landscape equipment. Previous agronomic experience.
Essential Functions:
Cuts grass and trims with various mowers and power tools when requested. Utilizes knowledge of horticulture techniques to assist in maintaining trees, plants, flower beds, shrubbery and other landscaping elements in their assigned portion of campus. Specifically responsible for application of herbicides for landscape beds. Picks up and transports trash and provides leaf collection. Utilizes tractors, front end loaders, dump trucks and other commercial equipment to move dirt, sand, gravel and mulch for campus landscaping needs. Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheel barrows, watering hose, etc. to maintain grounds. Provides snow removal services to the entire campus.

Work Hours:
Typical Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Salary:
Level S2, Grade 4.
