Job Description
The Groundsman is responsible for supporting tree removal, tree trimming, and vegetation management operations by maintaining a safe and efficient worksite. This role involves operating equipment, managing ropes and rigging systems, clearing debris, assisting climbers and arborists, and ensuring compliance with all company safety standards. Key Responsibilities Assist tree workers during tree pruning, removal, and maintenance operations. Safely operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, blowers, and other equipment as trained. Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic and pedestrian control when required. Feed brush and debris into wood chippers and assist with cleanup of job sites. Handle ropes, rigging equipment, and lowering devices under the direction of the crew leader. Load, unload, and secure tools, equipment, and materials on company vehicles. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and industry best practices. Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and customers. Assist with emergency storm response and debris removal when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety. Ability to work as part of a team. Must be able to pass a drug test. Preferred Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, construction, or outdoor labor. Physical Requirements Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy materials. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Ability to work around loud equipment and at active job sites. Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain. Working Conditions Outdoor work environment with exposure to weather, dust, noise, and moving machinery. Potential exposure to heights, falling debris, and hazardous equipment.
