Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Landscaping Technician to perform landscaping maintenance operations in the Dallas- Fort Worth, TX area during the day shift, with some night and weekend.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of related landscaping experience
- Must have experience in using landscaping tools/equipment including but not limited to mowers, trimmers, and blowers
- Must have experience in using tools to mix and apply spray fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides
- Must be able to speak
Spanish and English Preferred Experience:
- Roadway maintenance experience
- MOT Certifications (traffic control) Clean driving record is essential Must pass criminal background check
Qualifications:
- Must be able to follow work plans and landscaping plans
- High School Diploma/GED
- Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e. criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing)
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Carry out simple arithmetic functions
- Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
- Ability to use smart phone and applications
- Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
- Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly while twisting; other strenuous manual labor may be required
- Ability to operate hand/power tools including but not limited to saws, shovels, rakes, trimmers :
- Perform mowing, string trimming, edging, pruning, and general landscape maintenance along highway rights-of-way.
- Install mulch, plants, shrubs, trees, and other landscape materials.
- Remove weeds, brush, litter, and debris from landscaped areas.
- Apply herbicides and fertilizers in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations (if certified).
- Inspect irrigation systems and perform minor repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Plant and replace trees, shrubs, and groundcover as needed.
- Operate landscape maintenance equipment including zero-turn mowers, tractors, weed eaters, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other hand and power tools.
- Assist with erosion control, drainage maintenance, and restoration of landscape beds.
- Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area while following traffic control and roadway safety procedures.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for storm damage, debris removal, or other roadway maintenance needs when required.
