  • 33,962 Under the general supervision and direction of the Lead Groundskeeper and Maintenance Foreman, the groundskeeper shall contribute to the operation of the educational process by maintaining the grounds at all of the School District properties, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Graduate or hold a GED certificate, preferred. 2. Experience in the field of work, preferred. 3. Ability to lift 50 lbs. as needed throughout the workday. 4. Have an acceptable driving record to standards developed by the Department of Public Safety and the Education Agency (10 point system) 5. Ability to communicate (verbally) 6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and get along with co-workers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Provides support to the exterior grounds maintenance operations including, but not limited, to the mowing, weed-eating, and trimming activities of the Maintenance Services Department. 2. Assists in maintaining all District facilities landscaping, and playgrounds as directed. 3. Assists in all facets of exterior grounds maintenance including parking lot repairs, exterior grounds concrete/asphalt work, canopy maintenance, exterior painting and fence work as needed. 4. Assists in the recycling program, moving operations and in the energy management/records operations as needed. 5. Assists other departments with manpower as assigned. 6. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. 7. Follows and maintains District safety procedures and standards at all times. 8. Responsible for maintenance of mowers, edgers and small engines used on duty. Will need to handle District equipment properly and responsibly. 9. Works cooperatively with KISD administrators, staff and students in the performance duties. 10. Perform other job-related duties and functions assigned by supervisor.
EQUIPMENT USED
Uses tractor, power tools, hand tools, trencher, roto-rooter, air tools, step ladders, jack hammers, dollies, hoeing, weed eater, chain saw, power hedge clippers, blower, edger, sprayer, and mowers.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands:
Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing: heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, some stooping, bending, kneeling.
Environment:
Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders and driving in traffic.
