POSITION SUMMARY

TheDallas CollegeFacilitiesManagementDepartment supports the facility needs forDallas Collegewhile providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of theCollege's physical assets.

The Facilities Management Department is responsible forapproximately 5,000,000 sq.ft.of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County.

The position ofLandscape ServicesTechnician supportsthat effort through the performance of skilled craftwork in thelandscapingtrade.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Able to perform routine maintenance on equipment anddeterminingwhen and what kind of maintenance is needed. Ability todeterminecauses ofoperatingerrors and deciding how to complete and solve the issue. Ability to work with colleagues and troubleshoot, diagnose, andmaintainlandscapingwith accuracy and speed, Ability to create effective working relationships withemployees. Able to recognize andobserveall safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly. Demonstratestheability to analyze information andevaluateresults to choose the best solution and solve problems. Abilitytoutilizecomputer technology to access data and communicate with others. Able tomaintainwritten equipment maintenance records. Ableto communicate effectively with all individuals within the Dallas College community. Strong knowledge and experienceprovidingeffective customer service. Must have the ability to maintain the security and integrity of the critical infrastructure of Dallas College

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending over,stooping, twisting, talking, hearing, climbing ladders, using stairs, reaching overhead, crouching,kneeling,or crawling. Pushing or pulling 10-50lbs., lifting 10-80lbs., carrying 10-50lbs., repetitive use of arms and legs, driving, balancing, manual dexterity-fine manipulation or grasping.

May require working in adverse weather conditions.

Requires in-person interaction and coordination of work with other employees, students, external clients, partners or customers and/or immediate access to equipment, documents, or other information located only in a College workspace. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Six (6) months related experience. Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workday including nights and weekends. Current and valid Texas driver's license required for offsite travel. Bilingual preferred. •Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. •

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for landscaping andmaintaininggrounds using hand powered tools and/or equipment. Performs a variety of tasks such as planting, trimming, sod laying, watering, and mowing,tomaintainthe areas around the college buildings, facilities andmaintainlandscaping equipment. Report equipment repair problems to the Facility Manager. Picks up litter on the campus pavement and grounds area. Operates a variety of light to moderately heavy equipment used in landscape maintenanceactivities includingtrimming, mowing, watering grass and shrubs, pruning andmaintaininggrounds. Plant andtransplanttrees,shrubs,and flowers; sods grass, plants seed,pullweeds and spray fertilizerand insecticides. Ensures the highest quality oflandscapingmaintenancework across all Dallas College locationsand performsroutinelandscaping functionssuch as mowing, watering pruning, edging, and litter control. Maintainassigned equipment. Works with otherfacilities teammatesto ensure the highest level of customer service. Providesa safe and healthygroundsfor Dallas College students, faculty, and staff. Assistsother facilities management teams asrequired. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performsotherdutiesasassigned.
