Job Description

Salary:
$15.75/hr. minimum - $19.68/hr. max (Depending on qualifications) To perform a variety of semi-skilled duties involved in the planting, care, and maintenance of park grounds; and to perform specialized projects as assigned. You can search for this position's full job description here .
SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by a District Park Supervisor. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior as outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Participate in a variety of plant maintenance and landscape duties including trimming trees and shrubs, pulling weeds, mowing and edging lawns, raking recreation areas, watering plants and trees, sweeping, and clearing fallen trees from the public paths and walkways. Participate in a variety of park facilities maintenance duties and clearing debris from the parking lots. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor. Operate a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawn mowers, trucks, and tractors; perform general maintenance duties including refueling, and lubricating parts; make minor adjustments as necessary. Assist in park inspections to ensure the safety of the public and park facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury; perform general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required. Pick up litter from grounds and empty trash containers throughout assigned parks. Participate in the Urban Forestry Program; participate in citywide tree planting and various other tree programs.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform special projects as assigned. Maintain work, time and material records. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) months of park maintenance or landscape experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Required overtime and weekends as needed.
