Woodbridge Golf Club is seeking a motivated, dependable, and hands-on Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the Golf Course Superintendent in the daily maintenance and operation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of golf course maintenance, turf management, irrigation systems, equipment operation, and crew supervision. This position will play an important role in maintaining course conditions, ensuring irrigation systems are operating properly, and helping the maintenance team consistently deliver a high-quality playing experience. The Assistant Superintendent should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, operating equipment, troubleshooting irrigation issues, and leading employees by example. Essential Responsibilities Golf Course Maintenance Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the daily maintenance and upkeep of the golf course. Monitor the condition of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and other maintained areas. Assist with mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, fertilizing, chemical applications, and general turf maintenance. Help maintain consistent playing conditions and course presentation. Identify turf, drainage, pest, disease, and course-condition issues and communicate them to the Superintendent. Assist with preparation of the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and special events. Maintain bunkers, cart paths, landscape areas, water features, and other course amenities. Assist with seasonal course projects and improvement initiatives. Irrigation Responsibilities Assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. Monitor irrigation heads, valves, pumps, controllers, satellites, and other irrigation components. Troubleshoot irrigation problems and make necessary repairs when possible. Identify broken heads, leaks, clogged nozzles, damaged wiring, pressure issues, and other system problems. Assist with irrigation scheduling based on weather, turf conditions, and course needs. Perform routine inspections of irrigation systems. Maintain irrigation records and communicate major issues to the Superintendent. Assist with irrigation installation, repairs, head adjustments, valve work, and system improvements. Understand basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical principles related to irrigation systems. Assist with pump station operation and troubleshooting as needed. Crew Leadership Assist the Superintendent in directing and supervising the golf course maintenance crew. Help assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional attitude. Train employees on proper equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and course standards. Monitor employee productivity and quality of work. Help ensure employees follow all safety procedures and company policies. Communicate daily priorities and changes to the maintenance team. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Safely operate golf course maintenance equipment including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, blowers, and other equipment. Perform basic equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Identify equipment problems and communicate repair needs to the appropriate person. Maintain clean and organized equipment areas, maintenance facilities, and workspaces. Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, fueled, stored, and maintained. Course Knowledge The Assistant Superintendent should have a working knowledge of: Golf course terminology Greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and approaches Common turfgrass varieties Mowing practices and heights Fertilization and turf nutrition Weed, pest, and disease identification Bunker maintenance Drainage and water management Course setup and daily presentation Seasonal turf management practices Basic agronomic principles A strong understanding of how maintenance practices affect the golfer's experience and playing conditions is expected. Irrigation Knowledge A strong irrigation background is preferred and will be an important part of this position. The successful candidate should have experience or familiarity with: Golf course irrigation systems Irrigation controllers and programming Sprinkler heads and nozzles Valves and valve boxes Irrigation wiring Pumps and pump stations Water pressure and flow Leak detection Irrigation troubleshooting Basic electrical troubleshooting Basic plumbing and PVC repair Irrigation scheduling Weather-based irrigation practices Qualifications Required Previous experience in golf course maintenance, turf management, landscaping, irrigation, or a related field. Basic knowledge of golf course maintenance practices. Working knowledge of irrigation systems. Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment safely. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions. Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work. Strong communication and organizational skills. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license. Preferred Previous experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Spray Technician, Irrigation Technician, Foreman, or similar position. Golf course maintenance experience. Strong irrigation repair and troubleshooting experience. Experience supervising or leading a maintenance crew. Knowledge of turfgrass management and agronomy. Experience with irrigation control systems and pump stations. Experience with chemical applications and fertilizer programs. Turfgrass or horticulture education/certification. Leadership Expectations The Assistant Superintendent is expected to be a working leader, not simply an office-based supervisor.

Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Work outdoors for extended periods. Work in temperatures exceeding 90°F during summer months. Lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds. Operate machinery and utility vehicles. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain. Work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required by golf course operations. Schedule Golf course maintenance operates primarily during early morning hours. Pay:

$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
