De la Rosa Landscaping is a locally owned, rapidly growing lawn care and landscaping company serving Chesterfield, Midlothian, and surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced Mowing Crew Leader / Driver to join our team. We are looking for someone who wants more than just a seasonal mowing job. The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and interested in becoming a leader and building a long-term career with our company. As a Mowing Crew Leader, you will be responsible for operating commercial mowing equipment, driving a company truck and trailer, leading a small crew, maintaining productivity, and making sure every property is completed to our standards. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us. The Position You will lead a mowing crew of approximately 1-2 other employees and be responsible for completing residential and commercial lawn maintenance routes efficiently and professionally. The Crew Leader is expected to take ownership of the route and make sure the crew delivers consistent, high-quality work at every property. This includes leading by example, managing the crew, operating equipment, communicating with customers, identifying problems, and ensuring the finished product meets company standards. Typical Responsibilities Lead a mowing crew of 1-2 employees. Drive company trucks and trailers safely between job sites. Load, secure, and maintain mowing equipment. Operate commercial zero-turn and walk-behind mowers. Weed eat/trim around trees, fences, buildings, beds, and other areas. Edge sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and landscape beds. Blow grass clippings and debris from all hard surfaces. Perform lawn cleanups and leaf removal. Trim shrubs and perform basic landscape maintenance as needed. Assist with aeration, seeding, weed control, fertilization, and other lawn services. Inspect properties after mowing to make sure no details were missed. Communicate professionally with customers when questions or concerns arise. Keep trucks, trailers, equipment, and job sites clean and organized. Perform basic equipment cleaning and maintenance. Report equipment problems, property issues, and customer concerns to management. Help train newer employees and maintain a positive, productive crew environment. Leadership Expectations We are looking for someone who wants to move up within the company. Our Crew Leaders are expected to take responsibility for their route and their team. You should be able to keep a crew moving, recognize when something needs to be corrected, and maintain our quality standards without needing someone to constantly watch over you. What Makes Someone Successful in This Position?
The right candidate:
Has previous commercial mowing experience. Can confidently operate commercial zero-turn mowers. Works quickly without sacrificing quality. Understands that the details matter. Can lead a crew without constantly being reminded what needs to be done. Takes care of company equipment. Communicates professionally with customers. Shows up on time and ready to work. Holds themselves and their crew accountable. Is willing to learn and improve. Wants a stable, long-term position rather than a short-term summer job.
Qualifications Required:
At least 18 years old. Valid driver's license. Clean driving record and able to pass our insurance company's insurability requirements. Reliable transportation to and from work. Previous lawn care or commercial mowing experience. Ability to safely operate commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, and related equipment. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Dependable attendance. Strong work ethic. Professional and respectful attitude. Ability to work effectively with a small team.
Preferred:
Previous crew leader experience. Experience driving a truck and trailer. Experience operating commercial zero-turn mowers. Experience training or supervising employees. Knowledge of lawn maintenance and turf care. Experience with aeration, seeding, fertilization, or weed control. $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
