Garden Center Specialist & Floor Associate Store-wide (Garden Center, Power Equipment, and/or Florist — with a focus on Garden Center and ability to be sole specialist on duty) Reports to Manager on Duty Year-round Position Summary The Garden Center Specialist keeps our plants and nursery products healthy, well-presented, and well-understood by customers. This role blends plant care expertise with strong customer service, helping Garlands' customers find the right plants and products for their homes and gardens. What You'll Do Care for and maintain plant health across the nursery — planting, watering, feeding, pest management, and shrinkage reduction Advise customers on plant selection, care, and seasonal planting Merchandise plant and garden displays in line with store standards Receive, price, and stock incoming plant and garden inventory Support Managers on ordering of plants and garden inventory Support seasonal events and promotions in the Garden Center Train and support seasonal or part-time garden center staff as needed Open / close store as needed Trained Levels A higher hourly rate is provided for Associates who have the appropriate training and licenses to perform the below tasks: Delivery or pick up of items from customers across departments — flowers, snow blowers, garden items, etc. Driver's License and listing on insurance (clean record required). Must be comfortable making deliveries alone or, for busy seasons / heavy loads, with one other team member. Forklift driving for unloading and moving inventory. Forklift training required. Experience and Skills Required Plant care or horticultural knowledge (professional or strong personal experience) Comfort working outdoors in varying weather, including the physical demands of nursery work Strong, friendly customer service skills
