Oregon School District is seeking a full time Groundskeeper to maintain school grounds, prepare and maintain athletic fields and facilities, plow snow, and other duties as assigned.
Position Duties:
Maintain athletic fields and facilities. This will include layout and striping of game lines, creating and implementing field care programs to include mowing, aeration, rolling, fertilization, pesticide, and herbicide applications. Maintaining landscaping beds and landscaped areas. This will include mowing, care of plantings, trimming and shaping of plantings, creating and implementing fertilization, pesticide and herbicide application programs. Creating and implementing a mowing program for all district grounds. Care, maintenance, and repair of hardscapes including asphalt and concrete; signs and parking lines. Plow parking lots, salt sidewalks and other paving areas as required. This includes being on-call for after hours plowing during the snow season. Perform preventative maintenance and small repairs of ground equipment and fleet vehicles. Maintain inventory of grounds and field maintenance supplies. Work with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to identify the need for permanent, seasonal, and limited term employees. Assist with hiring, orientation, and training of employees. Support and fill-in for school head custodians during the off-season / winter months. Coordinates with head custodians for school related grounds issues. Perform various district wide maintenance tasks as time allows. Care, maintenance, and inspection of playground equipment and playground areas. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
Other Duties:
Attend required meetings and participate in training on work procedures and safety. Maintain knowledge of safe practices and equipment used to perform duties. Know, understand, and follow applicable safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: proper lifting techniques, operation of equipment, mixing and use of cleaning chemicals/agents, use of power or hand tools, driving vehicle, and signage for wet floors. Give directions to students or visitors and answer other questions in a helpful and pleasant manner. Qualifications High school diploma/GED Valid driver's license Ability to safely operate groundskeeping equipment Must possess or gain possession, through district-paid training within 6 months of hire a Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Certification - Category 3.0 Wisconsin DATCP Commercial Applicator information OSHA/safety training
