Job Description

General Maintenance Worker — Harpers Ferry, WV Unico Government Solutions, LLC is hiring a full-time General Maintenance Worker to support the National Park Service at Harpers Ferry Center in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. This is an on-site position supporting a federal facilities operation. Work is steady, weekday, daytime, with paid federal holidays and no required overtime. Schedule and pay Full time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday, day shift between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. No overtime required.
Pay:
$27.52 per hour base, plus a health and welfare benefit of $5.92 per hour, in accordance with Service Contract Act Wage Determination 2015-4285. 11 paid federal holidays. Two weeks paid vacation after one year of service. Anticipated start on or about 1 October 2026. This position is contingent on contract award. What you will do You will be the hands-on maintenance person for a federal campus of office, studio and storage buildings. A typical week mixes building work, property and shipping duties, and vehicle care.
Building maintenance and minor repair:
painting and paint touch-ups, minor drywall and concrete repair, inspecting and replacing ceiling and carpet tiles, basic carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical tasks.
Building systems:
maintain dehumidifiers across campus, assist with heating and air conditioning maintenance, keep building drains clear, add salt to water softeners, troubleshoot building issues and escalate what you cannot resolve.
Vehicles:
maintain the GSA motor pool — cleaning, fluids, fuel and charging; deliver and pick up vehicles for service; monitor electric vehicle charging stations and the gate arm system. Shipping, receiving and property: prepare and receive shipments, operate a pallet jack and tool cat, maintain a package log and distribute packages, pick up mail from local post offices, bar code and inventory government property, prepare items for disposal or recycling.
Moves and space setup:
reconfigure and dismantle office and modular furniture, keep a furniture inventory, move heavy items, set up and reset conference rooms, maintain storage spaces.
Supplies and recycling:
receive, store, issue and deliver campus-wide office supplies and track inventory; support the recycling program.
Deliveries:
make pickups and deliveries within reasonable driving distance of Harpers Ferry using a government vehicle. Use of a personal vehicle is not permitted.
Records:
keep daily logs of hours and work performed, and use a computer to research products and solutions and enter data. Physical requirements This role is physically active. It involves lifting and carrying items up to 70 pounds, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, stretching and reaching; moving, arranging, assembling and loading boxes, bins and totes; and using material handling equipment. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, and includes driving and walking on all surfaces in rain, snow, ice and wind. Some sedentary computer work is also required. Background check This position requires a federal background investigation and a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential before unsupervised access to government systems. You will complete an OPM Standard Form 85 or 85P, an OF 306, a credit information release, fingerprinting and a National Criminal History Check.
