Danny Yates Landscape Nursery , a Bethel Farms company, is hiring for a Turf & Ornamental Spray Technician. This person is responsible for inspecting and treating residential lawns and ornamental landscapes to maintain healthy, attractive turf and plants. This position performs properly timed applications of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other approved products while identifying turf, ornamental, pest, disease, and nutritional issues. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in turf and ornamental care, understands fertility programs, and can work independently while providing professional customer service. Primary Responsibilities Inspect residential turf and ornamental landscapes for weeds, insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other plant-health concerns. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other turf and ornamental products safely, accurately, and according to label requirements. Implement and follow turf and ornamental fertility programs based on seasonal needs, plant health, and site conditions. Identify common turfgrass, ornamental plants, weeds, insects, diseases, and environmental or cultural problems. Mix, load, and apply products at proper rates and in accordance with applicable laws, labels, and company procedures. Operate, calibrate, clean, inspect, and maintain commercial spray and fertilizer application equipment to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient applications. Calculate treatment areas, product rates, and application quantities accurately. Maintain complete and accurate pesticide, fertilizer, service, and application records. Communicate treatment findings, recommendations, and property concerns clearly and professionally with customers and supervisors. Maintain a clean, organized vehicle, equipment, and chemical storage/work area. Follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and requirements governing commercial pest control, pesticide use, and fertilizer applications, as well as all company safety procedures. Qualifications & Experience Three to five (3-5) years of professional turf and ornamental spray/application experience preferred. Florida GI-BMP certification preferred; if not currently certified, candidate must be able to successfully complete the required training and obtain certification within the established timeframe following hire. Florida Certified Pest Control Operator (CPO) certification in Lawn & Ornamental preferred, or relevant licensing/credentials and the ability to obtain required certification. Strong working knowledge of residential turfgrass and ornamental plant care, including fertility, weed control, insect control, and disease management. Experience with pesticide and fertilizer application equipment, calibration, mixing, and rate calculations. Ability to safely and proficiently operate commercial turf application equipment, including Z-Spray, Turfco, or similar ride-on and stand-on fertilizer and pesticide application equipment. Ability to read, understand, and follow pesticide labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and application instructions. Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles. Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to regularly lift and carry 50-75 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, sun, and changing weather. Ability to walk residential properties, bend, stoop, reach, pull hoses, and perform repetitive application work for extended periods. Ability to safely wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work around fertilizers and pesticide products in accordance with product labels and safety requirements.
