No Description About the Role The DeLong Co. Inc. is looking for a motivated Junior Applicator to join our team. In this role, you'll start out applying lime and dry fertilizer, then grow into liquid fertilizer and pesticide application. You'll play a key role in promoting crop health and helping our customers get the best possible yield — completing spraying and spreading jobs safely, efficiently, and with a high level of accuracy. No prior applicator's license is required to apply — we're willing to help train the right candidate. What You'll Do ? Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals to crops following recommended rates and application methods. ? Operate and maintain tractors, sprayers, spreaders, and other equipment used for chemical application. ? Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate, precise application, and monitor performance during operations. ? Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, reporting significant issues to the maintenance team. ? Handle general housekeeping and preventative maintenance of equipment. ? Accurately measure and return chemicals and fertilizer to the warehouse on tender trucks. ? Double-check maps, blends, fields, and product quantities to catch and correct potential errors. Requirements What You'll Need ? Willingness to pass the applicator's exam and obtain an Applicator's License (we'll help you train for it). ? Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and a willingness to serve as mechanic for various equipment. ? Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting. ? High school diploma or equivalent. ? Ability to obtain a Commercial Applicator's License and a Class A or B CDL. ? Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance. ? Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. ? Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and safety protocols. ? Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. ? Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety for yourself, coworkers, and the environment. Preferred Qualifications ? 1-3 years of experience in dry and liquid application. ? Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for larger equipment. ? Prior experience with agricultural equipment and knowledge of agricultural chemicals, their properties, and safe handling procedures. ? Basic agricultural knowledge, ability to pull a trailer; welding experience is a plus. Growth Opportunities Strong performers in this role have the opportunity to advance to Senior Applicator.
