Nursery Retail Associate Thomas Hicks Landscaping - Santa Rosa Beach, Florida Position Summary Thomas Hicks Landscaping is seeking a friendly, dependable, and knowledgeable Nursery Retail Associate to join our growing nursery team. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers and plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, organized, and thriving nursery. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people as much as plants, takes pride in creating an inviting shopping environment, and is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors. This role includes retail sales, plant care, merchandising, inventory management, and occasional equipment operation. Essential ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Retail Sales Welcome customers and provide exceptional service in person, over the phone, and by email. Assist customers in selecting plants, trees, palms, shrubs, sod, mulch, rock, soils, and landscape materials. Answer questions regarding plant selection, care, availability, pricing, and installation recommendations. Prepare estimates, sales orders, invoices, and customer quotes. Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale system. Coordinate with delivery drivers and yard staff to stage customer orders. Build relationships with repeat customers, contractors, and landscape professionals. Maintain a professional and welcoming sales office and customer areas. Nursery Operations Water, fertilize, prune, and maintain healthy nursery inventory. Monitor plants for pests, disease, or damage and report concerns promptly. Organize, rotate, and merchandise inventory to create attractive retail displays. Label plants accurately and maintain pricing throughout the nursery. Receive new plant shipments and inspect inventory for quality. Restock inventory and keep nursery rows clean, organized, and easy for customers to shop. Assist with seasonal displays, promotions, and special sales events. Yard & Inventory Help customers safely load plants, mulch, soils, rock, and other landscape materials. Participate in inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records. Keep the nursery, sales yard, greenhouse, and loading areas clean and organized. Operate forklifts, skid steers, or other equipment if trained and authorized. Assist with general nursery maintenance and light landscaping duties as needed. QualificationsRequired Excellent customer service and communication skills. Positive attitude with a willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Comfortable working outdoors in Florida weather. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn point-of-sale software. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Preferred Experience in retail sales, garden centers, landscaping, or plant nurseries. Knowledge of Florida plants, trees, palms, shrubs, irrigation, soils, and landscape materials. Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or similar equipment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
