Position Summary:
The Director of the Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy (PRLEA) serves as both administrator and faculty member, ensuring adherence to CNCC's mission and policies and those of the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The role includes managing the PRLEA program, which operates under the mandates of the National Park Service (NPS) and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). The Director will have the authority and responsibility for program development, administration, and providing a high-quality learning experience for students.
Essential Job Functions:
50%
Administration:
Ensure compliance with CNCC, CCCS, State, and Federal policies. Stay current with changes in
NPS/FLETC
policies to maintain program quality. Assist in developing, evaluating, and revising student policies related to admission, progression, retention, and graduation. Serve as instructor of record and facilitate program reviews and student assessments. Coordinate accreditation processes with federal or state agencies and uphold the Academy Code of Conduct. 25%
Program Management:
Direct program reviews and implement necessary course changes. Manage the program budget and participate in budget processes. 20%
Faculty Support:
Evaluate faculty performance and recommend professional development. Support adjunct instructors and conduct program meetings. Advise and guide students, fostering strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. 5%
Administrative Duties:
Review textbook updates and develop course schedules. Participate in graduation ceremonies and perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision of Others:
Direct supervision of the PRLEA Program Coordinator and adjunct instructors.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent educational experience. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
