Job Description
Lee County is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Maintenance Specialist to help ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of our parks. This role involves working in various locations, including beaches, shorelines, coastal areas, and other designated sites. We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a team that makes a positive impact on the community. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in creating enjoyable and safe recreational spaces for our community to enjoy. Whether you already have maintenance experience or are ready to build your skills, we welcome applicants who are motivated and ready to learn. What You Will Do Keep parks near the beaches, shorelines, and coastal areas clean and safe. Pick up trash and litter and empty trash cans. Clean restrooms and make sure they are safe to use. Do basic landscaping work like mowing, trimming, and raking. Make small repairs to park buildings, equipment, and other items. Check park signs and other park features and fix them when needed. Tell supervisors about any problems or safety concerns in the park. Help guide community service workers, inmates, or volunteers. Unlock buildings and areas when the park opens and lock them at closing time. Provide friendly and helpful customer service to all visitors. Perform other related duties as assigned. This role requires the ability to work outdoors year-round and safely handle cleaning chemicals and tools. What We're Looking For High School diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Six (6) months of maintenance or closely related experience Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Related experience may include: General maintenance or facility upkeep Landscaping, groundskeeping, lawn care Custodial or janitorial work Parks, recreation center, school, or sports complex experience Outdoor labor or construction helper roles Customer service roles involving public interaction Volunteer experience involving outdoor or maintenance tasks Preferred Qualifications Experience operating and maintaining tools and equipment such as hand tools and small equipment Capable of performing basic mathematical calculations Knowledge of safe and environmentally friendly ways to handle cleaning supplies Work Schedule This position includes variable hours and will require weekdays, weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
