You will foster a spirit of performance excellence with a focus on providing great experiences for Museum guests. This position reports directly to the Security Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
including, but not limited to: Assist customers with navigating the museum. Assist the Exhibits Department with starting up attractions. Help maintain a safe environment for all by reporting emergencies and hazardous, or unsanitary conditions to dispatch Visually and audibly monitors and inspects exhibition areas for physical changes including wear, theft, or vandalism. Serve as the first response for the safety of visitors, staff, and physical properties in the area. Observe the behavior of visitors, staff and others in the area. When needed, take measures to correct inappropriate activities. Reports unusual or illegal activities to dispatch immediately. Reports missing artifacts or irregularities to supervisor. Monitor and check doors to prevent access by the public to restricted areas. Become familiar with the location of emergency exits. Assists Security Officers in emergencies and as required. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Full Job Description - Gallery Guard The Grand Rapids Public Museum is the oldest and second-largest museum in Michigan.
